I'm an Assistant Professor at the American University of Sharjah in the UAE. I received my Ph.D in political science from the University of Kansas in 2018. My recently released book, Killing Contention: Demobilization in Morocco during the Arab Spring (Syracuse University Press), examines why protest levels subside when they do. My book was based on field research funded through a Fulbright Research Fellowship. I have conducted over 45 semi-structured interviews with leftist, Islamist, and independent members of civil society organizations/political parties that participated in the February 20 Movement. Some of my peer-reviewed articles are published in the Journal of Human Rights (2023) the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies (2019) and the Journal of North African Studies (2020).
